MCM is a Mother Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) awarded by DOH since 1995, in recognition of MCM Practicing all “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding” (established and defined by WHO and UNICEF). MBHFI is one of the major programs of the DOH and UNICEF that advocates the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding in health facilities with maternity and newborn services. This was achieved through the practice of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, rooming-in, pre and post natal education and capability building.

MCM was honored last Feb. 21, 2003 by the DOH-National Institutes of Health, Philippines, recognizing MCM for exemplary performance in Newborn Screening for the year 2002; for actively promoting Newborn Screening; for screening at least 50% of the annual deliveries; and for actively recalling patients for follow-up testing and diagnosis. This award was given in due recognition of the active role of MCM in helping the government improve the health of Filipino children through Newborn Screening.

MCM has been certified as an Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) Surveillance Site last 1999, which culminated last Aug. 13, 2004 when MCM, through the efforts of the Department of Pediatrics, is now home to the third Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Referral Center or “Tsikiting Center”. In recognition of MCM’s performance in the EPI Surveillance System, the government backed by the Center for Health Development Metro Manila (DOH-NCR) and the Xavier Batch 83 Foundation, established the first ever center in a private hospital, offering a one-stop-shop children resource center devoted to provide data-based surveillance for encoding all EPI diseases to process, analyze and develop intervention so as to meet the goals of implementing a successful program reinforcing the commitment to Global Polio Eradication by 2005 and Measles and Neonatal Tetanus elimination by 2008.

MCM is a member of the Philippine Cancer Genetics Research Group (PCGRG), a project of the National Institutes of Health. This research group is involved in determining the prevalence of genetically linked cancers in the Philippines and the incidence and mutations that arises in these genetically linked cancers.

MCM Department of Radiology was given the 5-Star Award for Quality Service given by the DOH-Bureau of Health Devices and Technology (formerly Radiation Health Service) in recognition of the Outstanding Performance of MCM in the Implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control Program of the Radiology Department.

MCM Department of Laboratory is a DOH-BHFS accredited Drug Test Screening Laboratory.
